Having breasts that are youthful and perky in appearance may be important to maintaining feelings of self-confidence after pregnancy, aging, or serious weight loss. All of these factors, as well as genetics, play a role in making your breasts sag, creating problems with self-image.
At The Cosmetic Surgical Center of El Cerrito, we understand the important role body image plays in overall self-satisfaction. One of the cosmetic surgery procedures we offer is the breast lift. This procedure can help you regain your sense of confidence by improving your appearance.
How Much Does Breast Lift Surgery Cost in Oakland?
Pricing for a breast lift will depend on the severity of the sagging skin and if you have another breast procedure performed at the same time. At your initial consultation, we will review all of your pricing and financing options. For further information, view our patient financing page.
How Is a Breast Lift Performed?
A breast lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that can dramatically improve the appearance of your breasts. In this procedure, Dr. Patino will make a small incision around your nipple or underneath your breast. The nipple is repositioned and the contours of your breasts are reshaped. Excess skin is then removed, and your breast is contoured to precisely match your body’s frame.
This procedure can be done on its own or in conjunction with other breast enhancement procedures to provide you with a look that makes you feel confident and secure in your body. Commonly, women with larger breasts combine a breast lift with breast reduction surgery while smaller breasted women look at breast augmentation options to provide a fuller, more appealing look.
What Can I Expect After a Breast Lift?
As with any surgery, some recovery time will be necessary after a breast lift. This breast lift recovery time will be prolonged if you combine breast lift surgery with another cosmetic procedure. But on its own, breast lift surgery requires very little down time.
After your surgery, Dr. Patino will close the incisions with dissolving sutures, eliminating the need to come back in to have your sutures removed. A special bra will be provided for you to wear for the first two weeks following your breast lift surgery. This bra will provide additional support while also reducing swelling.
Some swelling, redness, and mild discomfort may occur during your recovery time. This is temporary and can be reduced by avoiding strenuous exercise and physical activity. In most cases, your breasts should be completely healed within four weeks. After your brief recovery time, you will be able to go forward with increased confidence and a renewed sense of desirability.

Breast Lift FAQs
The results of your breast lift have the potential to last for up to 10 years or longer. It’s important to note that receiving a breast lift will not stop signs of aging from appearing in the future. To maintain the results of your breast lift for the long run, Dr. Patino and his team recommend wearing a comfortable and well-fitted bra throughout the day in addition to leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
The breast lift procedure itself is not very painful as Dr. Patino will use anesthesia throughout the procedure to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout your surgery. Following your breast lift, you will likely experience swelling, bruising, and tenderness around the chest. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities including work and mild exercise within two weeks of surgery.
No, you will not lose any breast volume during your breast lift procedure. Unlike a breast reduction which removes breast tissue and fat from the breasts to reduce their size, a breast lift simply involves removing excess loose skin from around the breasts to give them a more lifted and youthful position on the chest. While you may find that your bras fit better following surgery, the actual size of your breasts does not decrease.
There is no perfect age to get a breast lift. While we typically see patients between ages 35 and 45 come in to receive a breast lift, patients as young as 18 and as mature as 55 who are in good general health are great candidates for a breast lift. Dr. Patino and his team typically recommend patients receive a breast lift if they’re unhappy with the sagginess or droopiness of their breasts but do not wish to reduce their overall breast volume.
Following your surgery, Dr. Patino will give you a surgical bra to wear for the next four to six weeks. This bra should be worn at all times, even while you sleep. Once you have the O.K. from Dr. Patino to stop wearing the surgical bra, it is recommended that you find a comfortable, supportive, and well-fitting bra to wear every single day. Wearing a bra regularly can help maintain the results of your breast lift for the long term.
