Your eyes speak volumes about who you are. Eye contact is vital in both business and social interactions, but for many people, the appearance of their eyelids and the area around their eyes make these meetings very uncomfortable.
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is an ideal way to restore absolute beauty to your eyes. By removing sagging skin, excess fat, or atrophied muscles around your eyes, Dr. Patino can help you look and feel your best regardless of the situation.
How Much Does Eyelid Surgery Cost in Oakland?
The cost for a blepharoplasty can be discussed at your initial consultation, and it will vary depending on your cosmetic needs. Our staff will discuss all of your pricing and financing options for eyelid surgery at your initial cosmetic consultation in Oakland.
How Is Eyelid Surgery Performed?
Eyelid surgery can be performed as an outpatient procedure done under local anesthesia. Once you are properly sedated, Dr. Patino will make incisions within the natural folds of your eyes. These incisions are placed in the natural folds so as to be undetectable after your incisions have healed.
Once the incisions have been made, Dr. Patino will either remove excess fat and muscle tissue from around your eyes or sculpt the existing tissue into a more appealing shape. The method employed will depend entirely on your personal needs.
After the muscles and fat surrounding your eyes have been ideally shaped, Dr. Patino will carefully remove any excess skin. Removing this skin greatly reduces the appearance of sagging eyelids and allows your skin to be completely firm against your muscles and bones, accentuating the natural contours of your face. Once excess skin is removed, your incisions will be sutured, and the surgical area will be cleaned and dressed.
What Can I Expect After Eyelid Surgery?
The sutures generally need to stay in for two to five days, during which time you may experience some mild discomfort. Dr. Patino will be able to prescribe pain medications to deal with these issues.
You may need to wait up to two weeks to resume normal activities, including work. This time is necessary for your body to heal appropriately and is minimal in comparison to the long-lasting results of your eyelid surgery. Dr. Patino will instruct you on how to avoid additional bruising, swelling, and redness during your blepharoplasty recovery period.
